El Gallo de Oro

1979 — 2006

For the voices we recognise from the first note. For the songs that turn a room into a chorus. We make this tee for El Vale, and for everyone still singing along.

A voice from Sonora

Valentín Elizalde was born in Sonora on February 1, 1979, into a family where music was already part of everyday life. His father, Lalo Elizalde, was a singer before him. The stage was a family inheritance; the voice Valentín brought to it was entirely his own.

There was a grain to his singing that made every line feel close. Over the brass and percussion of banda, he could sound proud, wounded and playful in the same song. El Gallo de Oro became a name people recognised before the chorus even arrived.

The songs stayed with us

Vete Ya, Ebrio de Amor, Soy Así and Te Quiero Así belong to different shades of the same emotional world: love declared without hesitation, heartbreak carried openly, and pride that refuses to disappear. His corridos brought another side of that presence, telling their stories with the same unmistakable delivery.

The cowboy hat, embroidered jackets and easy smile became part of the picture. But it was the sound that made the connection. These were songs for the drive home, the last round, and the moment a whole room found itself singing together.

El Gallo lives on

Valentín died in 2006, aged 27. His recordings kept travelling: passed between generations, played at family gatherings and rediscovered by listeners who never saw him perform. The affection behind El Vale remains as personal as the songs themselves.

This archive holds the performer alongside the person: a portrait beneath a black hat, nights onstage, family photographs and a visit to the Basílica de Guadalupe with his friend Hugo Ivich. Our tee carries that memory in gold, celebrating the voice and the life behind El Gallo de Oro.
